About Us
Note from the Founder
Movement has always been a part of my life.
Before Pilates, before business, I spent many years as a dance teacher across the Gold and Sunshine Coasts. I worked closely with bodies in motion, teaching, observing, refining, and developing a deep understanding of how people move, learn, and connect through movement. Over time, this shaped my appreciation for the body, for creativity, and for the power of intentional movement, not just physically, but in how it supports the whole person and their nervous system. I have always been a strong advocate for movement, for young people, and the role it plays in supporting their overall wellbeing within learning environments.
My journey with Pilates began five years ago, initially as a new form of exercise I wanted to try. It was in that space that I began to understand its depth, and my interest quickly grew into something more meaningful. Following a knee injury, I experienced its impact on a different level. Pilates became a key part of my rehabilitation, gentle but quietly powerful, intentional, and transformative over time. I was drawn to the slow, considered process of rebuilding strength and movement, and through consistent practice, it restored a full range of motion I hadn’t believed possible in those early stages. It wasn’t just that Pilates strengthened my body. It asked me to slow down, to pay attention, and to move with precision. It required a different kind of focus than I had experienced before in other forms of exercise, and within that focus, I found a sense of quiet, something I came to think of as my own form of movement meditation.
Even in the more challenging moments, there was a feeling of complete presence. Breathing, moving, concentrating, everything working together. It felt less like exercise and more like a way of returning to myself. At the end of full days of teaching and running a household, my Pilates practice became a place of grounding, and over time, something I relied on deeply. It became clear to me that this was something I wanted to offer to others, a natural progression from years of teaching dance, now supporting people in a different stage of life to move well and feel better in their bodies.
KOSA was created from a desire to return to a deeper level of teaching, one that feels personal, considered, and responsive to each individual. My intention has always been to create a space where the group reformer experience can exist alongside genuine, individualised care. For me, that means smaller classes. Fewer people, more attention, and the ability to truly see, adjust, and support each person in a way that is specific to them. It reflects the same approach I have always taken in my teaching, responding to the individual in front of me, rather than simply delivering a sequence.
I welcome you into KOSA and look forward to taking care of you in this space. My intention is to create a community for those who are seeking a different approach to reformer, one that feels considered, calm, and genuinely supportive. This is not about following trends, but about creating something from the heart, where the focus is on helping you move well, build strength, and feel better within yourself. I’m so looking forward to meeting you and welcoming you into this space.
Your Instructor
Kristy is the founder of KOSA Pilates, a space born from her deep belief that movement should feel personal, supportive, and deeply connected to the individual. With over 20 years of experience as an educator in Dance and Drama across primary and secondary schools, she has spent her career guiding people to better understand their bodies- building strength, confidence, and awareness through movement.
Pilates became a natural extension of this work, evolving from a personal passion into something she came to rely on for its powerful, holistic impact. Supporting both strength and stillness, it allows her to take a more focused and intentional approach to how the body moves and functions, guiding each individual to move safely, effectively, and with greater connection.
At the heart of Kristy’s approach is a genuine care for how people feel in their practice. She brings a highly trained eye for movement, combined with a calm, considered teaching style that allows each person to feel supported, challenged, and understood.
